Fortunately, I have always enjoyed good health but from my early teens I have always suffered from eczema.
Eczema has always affected my hands but often the eczema would spread to my arms, legs, face and even on occasion my eyelids.
My eczema was always present on my hands, which looked red, inflamed and swollen. My skin was flaking and infected all of the time. It was always itchy and I couldn’t stop scratching it, which would inflame it further. As I got older I identified that it worsened when I was under a lot of stress. I was always trying to find something to fix it as I was very conscious of how awful my hands looked.
Over the years I had endless appointments with different general practitioners’ who would prescribe different types of cortisone creams. I had referrals to skin specialists who would give me even more different cortisone creams. They didn’t help. If anything they might reduce the itch for a few hours.
I would even go to the chemist to try every “new” over the counter cream that someone had told me about and which promised to fix eczema. I tried every everything from dermaid creams, to emu oils, special honeys, even cow udder cream.
When I had no luck with the doctors I tried a naturopath who made me a herb mixture to take orally and put me on a special diet removing most foods so it made it almost impossible to have a meal but I still never got any results.
I eventually accepted that the creams were all a temporary band aid and wouldn’t fix the problem.
I was at a Christmas party in December 2009 when Delia McCabe saw my hands and told me i must try Udo’s oil. I was dubious as I’d heard it all before with other products and was frankly sick of trying new things with no results.
Fortunately Delia was persistent and my husband bought me the oil. I started drinking a teaspoon of the oil mixed with orange juice each morning and I was amazed how quickly my hands improved. When I started taking Udo’s oil my hands were red roar from eczema. At the time my son wouldn’t let me put sunscreen on his face as my hands scratched him when I rubbed it in and my young niece wouldn’t even hold my hand.
It was within a week of taking the oil that i really noticed my hands had improved significantly and were almost “normal”. I continued to take the oil each day and my hands had no sign of eczema within a fortnight. My hands are now smooth and have no signs of eczema at all for the first time in at least 15 years. I am happy to say I don’t use any eczema creams now and have thrown them all in the bin and replaced them with hand creams I buy because I like them.
I’ve realised that the Udo’s oil isn’t a band aid like the creams but actually treated my eczema from the inside. I would recommend it to anyone who actually wants to get rid of eczema. It certainly worked for me.
