EFA’s And Pregnancy

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s) are required for the optimal functioning of every cell, which includes the functioning and the development of the brain. The growing fetus requires these Essential Fatty Acids for its growing central nervous system, especially during the third trimester, and onwards, when brain development speeds up. If the mother is deficient in these essential nutrients, the growing child’s development will be hampered, and this window of opportunity will not present itself again. The brain needs both Omega 3 and Omega 6, which is supplied by the oil blend we recommend. If breastfeeding, the child can use up to 11gms of EFA’s daily – these have to be in the mothers diet, otherwise her cells are depleted when the child nurses. When a woman doesn’t have enough EFA’s to supply the child with what it needs to grow and develop optimally, the mother ends up becoming very deficient in EFA’s, easily explaining the high rates of post natal depression, as well as general brain fog that can occur after giving birth, and during the months of breastfeeding. Each child will deplete the mother further, if she doesn’t replenish her EFA requirements, until the last child is the worst off, which explains the behavioral and developmental delays that can occur in large families when children are born close together. So, these EFA’s are critical for the optimal growth, development and brain function of the child, both in the womb and after birth. And they are critical for the mothers health too. An extra benefit of using this oil blend is that the mothers skin will be soft and supple, easily able to stretch as the baby grows and then return to its pre-pregnancy state with very little if any stretch marks, due to the extra moisture and elasticity the essential fats provide the skin cell membrane with.
